Doberman bronze art
by Douglas Jensen

Elegant in appearance, of proud carriage, reflecting great nobility. Energetic, watchful, determined, alert, fearless, loyal and obedient.

Douglas Jensen was born the second in a family of five on August 23, 1949 in the small community of Minden, Nebraska. He went on to college and holds undergraduate degrees in Art and Speech Pathology as well as Graduate degrees in Speech Pathology, Audiology and School Administration.

Douglas and his wife, Cheryl, joined the Grand Island Kennel Club in 1972. Soon Douglas was teaching conformation class and has continued to do so for the past thirty years. Since 1974 he has participated in the prestigious Doberman Pinscher Club of America Judges' Education Committee, holding several positions, including Chairman. In the mid 80's, a partnership was formed between Cedar Knoll Dobermans and Kyjur Kennel which has proved extremely productive. Given his past successes, Douglas felt he could help develop the Doberman Pinscher breed and decided the best approach was from inside the ring.

Over the years Douglas has bred several litters and shown many dogs to their championships. Each doberman is special. Many dogs have been judged by his experienced eyes, gentle hands and his heart. Now Douglas has combined his artistic ability and his love for the Doberman Pinscher and has forever captured these beautiful creatures in bronze.
